Born in France, Gladys Hirsch moved to New York after finishing college and started experimenting with clay in 2005. A wheel-throwing class, mostly taken to meet new people, opened a new world for Gladys. Soon, a passion had emerged. Different classes and workshops with amazing teachers and ceramic artists over the years have developed her skills and motivation to follow her creative vein.
Now living on the island of Puerto Rico, this artist explores the relationship between nature and the urban environment. She creates intricately detailed ceramic sculptural works inspired by the fragile beauty of coral reefs and the human-caused threats they face in an effort to promote awareness.
